A Place for Your Child

At Greasby Junior School, we welcome children from Year 3 to Year 6. We do not have a preschool or Foundation 2 (F2) intake, as our admissions process begins when pupils transfer from their infant school.

Joining Us in Year 3

The main point of admission to Greasby Junior School is at the start of Year 3. Applications are managed by Wirral Council through the coordinated primary admissions process.

We work closely with our local infant schools to make sure children experience a smooth, positive transition. During the summer term of Year 2, pupils take part in a range of activities such as:

• A transition morning at Greasby Junior School
• A fun ‘Sorting Hat’ assembly
• An opportunity to work with their new Houses in a House team building morning

Parents are invited to a New Year 3 Information Meeting in the summer term, where key staff members introduce themselves and share all the essential details for September.

If your child already attends another primary school and you are considering a move to Greasby Junior School, applications must be made through Wirral Council’s In-Year Transfer process.

Before submitting an application, we encourage parents to contact the Headteacher, for an informal conversation about the process and to discuss your child’s needs.

Moving On to Secondary School

At the end of Year 6, our pupils move on to a wide range of secondary schools across Wirral. We strongly recommend that parents and pupils in Year 5 attend secondary school open evenings and taster sessions to help guide their choices.

In Year 6, secondary school staff visit Greasby Junior School to meet pupils and gather transition information from teachers. This ensures children are supported and well prepared for the next step in their education.
