Statement of Intent
At Greasby Junior School, our curriculum is designed to inspire, challenge and empower every learner so that they are able to thrive academically, socially and personally. Rooted in our mission—Be inspired, thrive and fulfil your potential—our curriculum ensures that all pupils develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes they need to become confident, curious and compassionate citizens.
We are committed to providing a coherent, sequenced and ambitious curriculum that reflects our school values of Care, Courtesy and Consideration. It is a curriculum that builds progressively over time, enabling children to know more, remember more and do more as they move through Key Stage 2. Every subject is planned with clear purpose and progression, ensuring that pupils revisit and deepen key concepts so that learning is securely embedded in long-term memory.
Our curriculum encourages pupils to explore the richness of the world around them—past, present and future. Through meaningful and connected learning experiences, children develop an understanding of how history has shaped the society they live in, how their actions influence the world today, and how they can contribute positively to the future. We promote thoughtful engagement with local, national and global issues, helping pupils compare their experiences with those of others and recognise their role in a diverse and ever-changing world.
At Greasby Junior School, we explicitly teach children how to be effective learners. Our approach nurtures resilience, independence and a belief that effort leads to improvement.
