Our Approach to SEND

At Greasby Junior School, we are committed to creating an inclusive environment where every child feels valued, supported and able to thrive. We recognise that all pupils are unique, with their own strengths, needs and aspirations, and we are dedicated to ensuring that every child has the opportunity to achieve their very best.

Our approach is rooted in early identification, high-quality teaching, and tailored support. Through carefully planned adaptations, targeted interventions and close collaboration with families and professionals, we ensure that children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) can access a broad, balanced and ambitious curriculum.

Children with SEND learn alongside their peers in the classroom wherever possible, with additional small-group or individual support provided when needed. We work closely with external agencies such as Educational Psychologists, Learning Support Services and health professionals to ensure that our provision is effective, meaningful and based on the most appropriate specialist advice.

Our school building is fully accessible, with ramped entrances throughout, level access between areas of school, and a dedicated toilet/changing facility to support pupils with physical needs.

Working Together With Parents and Carers

We believe that strong partnerships with parents and carers are at the heart of effective SEND support. Your insights, questions and ideas are valued, and we encourage ongoing communication so that we can work together to ensure the best possible outcomes for your child. If at any point you have concerns or would like to discuss your child’s support, our door is always open.

If a child is identified as needing additional support, parents are informed promptly, and we work together to create and review a personalised support plan. These plans are reviewed regularly throughout the year to ensure that provision remains responsive and impactful.
