Our Approach to SEND
At Greasby Junior School, we are committed to creating an inclusive environment where every child feels valued, supported and able to thrive. We recognise that all pupils are unique, with their own strengths, needs and aspirations, and we are dedicated to ensuring that every child has the opportunity to achieve their very best.
Our approach is rooted in early identification, high-quality teaching and tailored support. Through carefully planned adaptations, targeted interventions and close collaboration with families and professionals, we ensure that children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) can access a broad, balanced and ambitious curriculum.
Children with SEND learn alongside their peers in the classroom wherever possible, with additional small-group or individual support provided when needed. We work closely with external agencies, including Educational Psychologists, specialist support services and health professionals, to ensure that our provision is effective, meaningful and informed by appropriate specialist advice.
Our school building is fully accessible, with ramped entrances throughout, level access between areas of school, and a dedicated toilet/changing facility to support pupils with physical needs.
Working Together With Parents and Carers
We believe that strong partnerships with parents and carers are at the heart of effective SEND support. Your insights, questions and ideas are valued, and we encourage ongoing communication so that we can work together to achieve the best possible outcomes for your child.
Where a child is identified as having special educational needs, parents and carers are involved throughout the process. Where appropriate, we work together to develop and regularly review a personalised support plan, ensuring that provision remains responsive to the child’s needs and supports positive outcomes.
What Should I Do If I Have Concerns About My Child?
If you have concerns about your child’s learning, progress or development, we encourage you to speak to their class teacher in the first instance. They know your child well and can discuss the support already in place and any concerns you may have.
If further advice or support is needed, your child’s class teacher can involve our SENDCo, Mrs Mullineux-Clay, who will work with you, your child and school staff to consider the most appropriate next steps.
Our SENDCo
Our Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Co-ordinator (SENDCo) is Mrs Mullineux-Clay. She works closely with pupils, families, staff and external agencies to coordinate high-quality SEND provision across the school.

Our SEND Governor
Our SEND Link Governor is Mrs Katie Evans. The SEND Governor works with school leaders to provide strategic oversight of SEND provision and to support and challenge the school in ensuring that the needs of pupils with SEND remain a priority.

Wirral SENDLO is the Local Offer for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities and their families. It brings together information about the support and services available across Wirral for children and young people aged 0–25 with SEND.
