At Greasby Junior School, the fundamental British values of Democracy, Rule of Law, Individual Liberty, and Mutual Respect and Tolerance are woven throughout our curriculum and school life. These values help our pupils grow into responsible, confident citizens who are ready for life in modern Britain.
Democracy
Children learn about democracy through School Council and Eco Team elections, leadership roles such as House Captains and Play Leaders, and regular opportunities for Pupil Voice. They also explore democratic ideas through the curriculum, including Ancient Greece, debating and real-world contexts such as General Elections.
Rule of Law
Our behaviour expectations and 3Cs (Courtesy, Consideration, Cooperation) help pupils understand the importance of rules. Restorative approaches, e-safety lessons, road safety, and visits from local services reinforce fairness, justice and responsibility.
Individual Liberty
Pupils are encouraged to make positive, informed choices—whether in their learning, extra-curricular activities, or during enrichment opportunities. Through PSHE, wellbeing lessons and our supportive pastoral systems, children learn about their rights, personal safety and the importance of respecting others’ freedoms.
Mutual Respect and Tolerance
Respect and inclusivity are central to our school ethos. Pupils learn to value difference through the RE curriculum, MEAS cultural workshops, diverse texts and whole-school celebrations such as Black History Month and Neurodiversity Week. Our 3Cs, assemblies, sports events, residentials and peer leadership roles promote kindness, teamwork and positive relationships. We also explore protected characteristics through PSHE and encourage empathy, understanding and support for others.
