What does it mean to be a Reading Champion?
Our Reading Champions are a team of enthusiastic Year 6 pupils who act as role models for reading across Greasby Junior School. Chosen for their positive attitude and love of books, they help promote a strong reading culture throughout the school.
Reading Champions support younger pupils during Homework Club and lead a weekly Accelerated Reader (AR) session, where they listen to children read, offer encouragement, and help them build confidence and fluency. They also model good reading habits and share their own enjoyment of stories, authors and genres.
Through their work, Reading Champions help inspire younger pupils to develop a lifelong love of reading. The role enables them to build leadership skills, empathy and communication whilst making a real difference to others’ reading journeys.
