Year 3 – Joining Junior School

Starting Year 3 marks an exciting new chapter as children join us from infant school and become part of the Greasby Junior School community. We know this is a big step, and our aim is to ensure every child feels happy, safe, and confident as they settle into junior school life.

Our dedicated Year 3 team—Teachers: Mrs Mullineux-Clay, Mrs McIlveen and Miss Chambers work closely together to support children as they build strong friendships, develop independence, and embrace new learning experiences. From our engaging curriculum and creative classroom environments to special events and enrichment opportunities, we strive to make learning enjoyable and meaningful.

All children are provided with the equipment they need for their lessons, so there is no need to bring stationery from home. Each child is given a school pencil case containing essential items such as pencils, pens, a ruler and other equipment needed for everyday learning. Providing equipment in school ensures that every child has access to the same appropriate resources and helps to keep desks organised and classrooms calm and purposeful. Equipment is replaced when needed, and children are encouraged to look after their belongings and take responsibility for keeping their pencil case organised.

We value every child as an individual and work closely with families to support their journey through Key Stage 2. Year 3 is a time of growth, discovery, and growing confidence—and we’re proud to walk alongside our pupils every step of the way.
